An experiential learning excursion to a plant nursery, was organized for Class VII students on 16 April 2026 to provide practical knowledge about plants and their importance in our daily life. The visit helped students understand how plants grow and how they are cared for in a real environment. The main objective was to study different varieties of plants, understand plant growth, and learn the importance of plants in maintaining ecological balance. It also aimed to encourage students to develop an interest in gardening.

At the nursery, students observed a wide variety of plants such as ornamental plants, flowering plants, medicinal plants, shrubs, and trees. They learned that plants are classified based on their size, life cycle, and uses.

The staff explained how plants grow from seeds, stems (cuttings), and roots. Students also learned about the basic requirements for plant growth such as sunlight, water, air, nutrients, and suitable soil. The importance of soil types and proper drainage was also discussed.

Students were shown medicinal plants like Tulsi, Aloe Vera and super food like moringa and understood their health benefits. They also saw flowering plants like roses, lily, hibiscus, and Areca Palm, Snake Plants, and various succulents which are used for decoration. Plants like strawberry and guava as well as chilli and brinjal were also present in the nursery.

Students also learned about eco-friendly practices such as composting, where kitchen waste is converted into natural fertilizer. The use of organic manure instead of chemical fertilizers was encouraged to protect the environment.

The visit to the nursery was very informative and enjoyable. It helped students understand the importance of plants and inspired them to take care of nature. Such field trips make learning more interesting and meaningful.
