Class V students participated in an engaging and informative Skills Lab session focussed on First Aid on 4 April 2026. The objective of the activity was to help students understand the importance of basic first aid and to equip them with essential life skills.
During the session, students were guided by the school infirmary nurse, Niru Ma’am, who demonstrated how to prepare a basic first aid kit. The students carefully assembled their kits using materials such as scissors, antiseptic creams (like Soframycin or Boroplus), gauze rolls or pads, bandages, cotton, antiseptic liquids (Savlon/Dettol), and adhesive tapes.
Niru Ma’am explained the use of each item and emphasized the importance of hygiene, safety, and quick response during emergencies. The session was highly interactive, allowing students to ask questions and learn through observation.
To reinforce their learning, students were given a real-life situation: they had to provide first aid to a friend who got injured while playing. The students enthusiastically applied their knowledge and demonstrated the correct use of the materials in their kits. They showed confidence, teamwork and a clear understanding of the steps involved in basic first aid.
